Having moved to a rural area several years ago, I have grown interested in working directly in the natural environment using recycled materials and the landscape, and when possible, materials found on the site itself.  I am currently working on a series of sculptures using cardboard packaging.  I have always worked in this manner to develop ideas and to make small models for larger public works, but more recently, have come to regard these forms as finished objects in their own right. The surface suggests the close relationship between the inner and outer selves, and how the interior life is formed in response to the fragmented and oversaturated visual environment that characterizes contemporary life.
